The educational model defines, directs and guides the work actions structured around the formative process of the student; the model is a representation, in which its educational actors’ roles are expressed by the pedagogical, curricular and didactic organization of the Medical School.

The Medical School, of Universidad Cuauhtémoc campus Aguascalientes, has an Educational Model mainly centered in the students’ cognitive processes development, because of this, it is said it belongs to a cognitive type. According to this, a knowledge, abilities, attitudes and values development is implied, which the student, through his constructive ability, will work as an Integral Medical Surgeon, with foundations in Critical Thinking, Clinical Reasoning and the Scientific Method.

The Medical School’s philosophy centers its attention in the Human Being, understood as the biological, psychological and social most important unit, interpreted as unfinished, perfectible and attached to a constant transformation of his affective, family and environmental relationships.

That’s why the student is considered as an active subject, capable of interact with the reality and generate mental cognitive constructions and representations through processes like description, synthesis, reflection, observation, analysis, evaluation, auto-evaluation and co-evaluation.

The Medical School student will have as a fundamental objective, to maximize his knowledge capacity, through the systematical and scientific comprehension of the preventive and corrective factors which have an impact on his community and environment’s health, through a work sustained by promotion, prevention, diagnose, treatment and rehabilitation, always guided by a leadership attitude which constitutes a change dynamic with a tenable and sustainable development.

To achieve the before mentioned, a solid formation in the use of new Information and Communication Technologies is proposed, based on initial practices through low, med and high fidelity Medical Simulators, as well as anatomical models which allow the student practice until he achieves a motor, affective and cognitive self-control in his clinical activity, consistent with respecting the human dignity.

From this Educational Model, the teacher is constituted as a reflexive, critical and scientific thinking facilitator of the student, through the educational strategies which integrate the Basic, Pre-Clinical and Clinical Formation’s pillars, as well as linking theory and practice through Task Based Learning (TBA), Clinical Cases Discussion (CCD), Reasoned Scientific Participations (RSP), Synthesis Cognitive Strategies (SCS), Simulation Environments Design (SED), Simulated and Standardized Patients (SSP), Structured Clinical Seminars (SCS), and Objectively Structured Clinical Exams (OSCE).

According to the before mentioned, the Medical School of Universidad Cuauhtémoc campus Aguascalientes, is committed to fostering professionals with a human leadership vision and an entrepreneurial attitude, ethical and socially responsible, who early identify their society’s medical necessities, furthermore, they will relate and link up with their social environment in a respectful, disciplinary and humanly way.
